Family Medical and Leave Act Final Regulations

    Gregory Griffiths, Dunlap & Seeger

On November 17, 2008, the U.S. Department of Labor issued its final regulations to implement amendments under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Gregory Griffiths will review the final regulations of the Family and Medical Leave Act, which became effective on January 16, 2009. Through Greg’s presentation, Human Resources professionals will gain the knowledge needed to ensure that their organization’s policies and procedures are in compliance with the final FMLA regulations. Specifically, Greg will provide information on the two new military family leave entitlements: Military Caregiver Leave and Qualifying Exigency Leave. In addition, Greg will explain the changes and clarifications included in the final regulations related to: Coverage and Eligibility, Calculation of Leave, Job Assignment and Reinstatement Rights, Definition of Serious Health Condition, Substitution of Paid Leave, Medical Certification, and the new Employer Notification Requirements. This program has been submitted to HRCI for 1.00 recertification credits with approval pending.
