    This interactive presentation provides the participants at the Rochester Human Resources Association meeting the opportunity to explore workplace grief, its impact on organizational health, and strategies to support grieving personnel.

    Goals: To help the participants:

    • Understand bereavement, grief, and mourning.  
    • Recognize the impact of grief on the employees, co-workers, and employers.
    • Explore strategy possibilities to enhance human resource bereavement programs. 

    Objectives: At the conclusion of this presentation, the participants will be able to:

    • Evaluate societal views about bereavement, grief, and mourning.
    • Describe bereavement, grief, and mourning.

    Explore types of losses and the accumulated effect of losses.

    Express five physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual reactions to grief.

    Recognize mediators that impact the expression of grief through mourning.

      Summarize strategies that help manage mourning.

      Discuss the importance of providing support for personnel experiencing grief.

      Propose effective strategies for balance between employee’s need and the organization’s need to maintain performance and productivity.
