Course Title: Gone But Not Forgotten: Obligations to Employees Returning from Leave

Course Overview: There are a multitude of reasons an employee may need to take a voluntary or involuntary leave of absence from employment.  This course provides a survey of employers’ obligations to provide leave and employees’ rights upon their return from leave.  The course will examine current state and federal law, including recent court opinions and governmental agency guidance, and provide recommended practices for common issues employers face related to leave.  Specific types of leave to be discussed include Disability Leave (Americans with Disabilities Act and Minnesota Human Rights Act); Worker’s Compensation Leave; Family and Medical Leave (Family and Medical Leave Act and Minnesota Parenting Leave Act); Military Leave and more.
