    Good Health Starts With Great Care

    Employees from Olmsted Medical Center (OMC) present a case-study based upon the well-being program and initiatives utilized and planned for OMC as an example or model for other companies seeking to drive healthcare costs down, or at least bend the curve a bit. This session will review how OMC is rolling out wellness programs to its employees and also broadly explore some of the best practices found within other organizations.  Session topics include Wellness Programs, biometrics, health risk assessments, preventive care, post-offer criminal background checks, post-offer drug testing, reasonable suspicion, Return to Work, Case Manage Work Comp, and post-offer functional assessments.  The importance of leadership involvement and organizational culture toward wellness will also be discussed.

    Objectives:
    1. Recognize the key elements of a employer sponsored wellness program
    2. Understand the importance of leadership involvement and corporate culture
    3. Understand the significance of maintaining a safe and compliant wellness program
    4. Recognize some of the state and federal laws regulating employer sponsored wellness programs

    Presenters:

    Andy Wood, PT

    E. Andrew Wood, PT, MS, CBES, CWWPM

    Andy is a Physical Therapist with a masters degree in Exercise Physiology, a Certified Wellness Coach Trainer with Real Balance Wellness Solutions a Certified Behavior Based Ergonomics Specialist and Certified Worksite Wellness Program Manager.  He is employed at Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, Minnesota as Injury Prevention and Wellness Specialist consulting with local and national business clients on wellness and injury prevention.  He worked more than 25 years at General Mills as the Manager of Health Promotion and Ergonomics.  He was responsible for managing and coordinating the health promotion activities for manufacturing and field sales, advising on musculoskeletal injury prevention and ergonomics, along with treating employees with musculoskeletal injuries in the corporate medical department.  Andy has also served as Director of Ergonomics and Corporate Solutions at Muve, Inc. where he was responsible for developing and implementing activity based wellness programs for corporate clients along with sales and account management.  He has authored several articles and delivered presentations nationally on the development and assessment of health promotion and ergonomics programs in many industries.   In his spare time, Andy enjoys competitive cross country skiing, hiking, fishing, and hunting, dog training, beekeeping, restoring antique automobiles and working on the family farm near Rock Dell,  Minnesota.  He is a member of American Physical Therapy Association, American College of Sports Medicine, The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, and the National Wellness Institute.

    Stephanie Juhl, RN, BSN
    Stephanie is a Registered Nurse with her Bachelors of Science from Mankato State University.  She is currently employed at OMC as the Employee Health and Safety Nurse.  She handles all the state and federal mandated employee health and safety issues.   She is part of the OMC Wellbeing Committee, Infection Control Committee, and Safety Team.   Stephanie case manages Work Comp cases, Drug and Alcohol Screening,  and the Return to Work for OMC employees.

    Special note on the RHRA Cancellation Policy: Cancellation of meeting registration(s) must be received by RHRA at least 48 business hours prior to the time of the event to avoid charges. Registrations not cancelled 48 hours in advance will incur full charges as a "No Show".
