Conducting Effective & Defensible Investigations - Fran A Sepler

When an employee raises a complaint about harassment or bullying, the employer’s response is critical.  Knowing how to conduct an effective intake, when to investigate and how to manage that investigation will not only ensure the employer is working with good facts, but also serves as a potential defense if charges are brought.  In this session we will work through an investigation from beginning to end, considering best practices and typical dilemmas that can arise.  Topics to be covered include investigative planning, interviewing, gathering evidence and note taking, conducting credibility assessments and how to report your findings.
