Summary:
Participants critically examine the concept of everyday bias and craft appropriate solutions to address everyday bigotry when it is encountered - at home, in the neighborhood in the workplace.  Based on curriculum from the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Workshop objectives:
Participants will:

• Understand the impact of everyday bias in the workplace.
• Explore barriers to responding to everyday bias in the workplace. 
• Develop and practice ways to respond to everyday bias in the workplace. 
  
  Presenter Information: 
  Savita Katarya is the Adult Education Program Manager for the Diversity Council.  She grew up in Delhi, India and has lived in Colorado, Illinois and calls Rochester her home for the past 19 years.  She has extensive experience, over 6 years in diversity and inclusion training, facilitation, dialogue and presentation.  She holds two bachelor's degrees, Human Resource Management and Accounting/Economics.   In addition, she is a certified Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Administrator and currently pursuing her certification as Project Management Professional.   Ms. Katarya designed and delivered training on conducting business in India and building effective cross-cultural work relationships as adjunct instructor at RCTC.  She is an alumnus of Collaborative Leadership Forum (CLF) and also serves on numerous collaborative community action committees and ad hoc work groups.

Special note on the RHRA Cancellation Policy: Cancellation of meeting registration(s) must be received by RHRA at least 48 business hours prior to the time of the event to avoid charges. Registrations not cancelled 48 hours in advance will incur full charges as a "No Show".
