    Presentation:

    ACA – The Play or Pay Reporting Requirements

    A detailed seminar for large and medium employers to plan and implement a strategy to minimize their exposure to play or pay penalties under the ACA. The seminar will focus on the play or pay reporting obligations under §6055 and §6056. We will also spend some time evaluating the redefinition of the small group market and how that will impact employers in 2016 and beyond.  We will provide a brief overview of the proposed regulations for the 2018 Cadillac Tax and how that will be applied and calculated in 2018 and what can be done to prepare for this requirement.

    Topics to be covered include:

     

    • Details on completing forms 1094-C and 1095-C
    • Common employment scenarios and their impact on reporting
    • Strategies for tracking required monthly data
    • Small Group Redefinition and its impact
    • Cadillac Tax

     

    Presenter - David Flotten, JD, SPHR

    David has been advising employers on human resources and benefits for over fifteen years and prior to that spent two years working in the Minnesota court system. David works with employers on a wide range of benefits compliance and strategic issues, with a particular focus on ACA issues as well as other HR issues like wage and hour rules and leaves of absence. He regularly presents seminars on leadership skills, coaching, and employee benefits at Associated Financial Group as well as presenting at the College of Continuing Education at the University of Minnesota. David has a law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and is a member of the Society of Human Resources Managers (SHRM).
